Down by The Water, Crystal Clear -
25 Things about Me Self-Reflection

This artwork was inspired by a lot of my own previous artworks, and some lingering thoughts of mine that I had decided to express through this painting. I was able to express these ideas through watercolor, acrylic paint, and colored pencil. In order to add more special touches, I used techniques such as watering down colors and layering different media, or using my fingers to blend instead of a brush. I hope that through that work, people can feel a sense of melancholy but also peace when they see my work. The whole point of my piece was to express the bitter feeling that comes with nostalgia, so I hope that I was able to reach that.

I found a little bit of a challenge when it came to getting a small sense of realism with the way I wanted the light reflection to work on the water, and if I were to add any shadows. If I were to do my work any differently, I probably would've found a way to add the shadows of the buildings onto the water, make the water darker, and add highlights that created an appearance of ripples, and added more detail to the mountain. Overall, I found the most success in incorporating watercolor!
