Bear Bust
Date
May 2025
This bust is supposed to reflect the duality of innocence. The body of my bust represents that of a child, yet he is covered in vines, seemingly overtaken by nature. With a bear hood, far too large for his frame. I wanted to use realism proportions with hints of cartoonish elements, just to emphasize the innocence aspect. I first created the body and head, then I created the bear hood. For my final touches, I added fur texture to the hood, and added vines to the boy's body, as well as added front teeth. Some challenges I faced was figuring out how to construct the bear hood and make the face look nice. I overcame it by realizing I could use the hood to cover parts that I struggled with. Overall, once I glaze and add color that will further enhance the texture and add yet another cohesive element to my bust, I am very proud of my current construction!
