Sgrafitto Plate
Over the process of making this project, I learned more on creating a more symmetrical base in terms of construction. I also was able to get more confident in my sgrafitto skill in terms of achieving a more clean and detailed sgrafitto pattern. I used to be more afraid of sgrafitto but this project helped beat that fear. When it comes to making an identifiable pattern, I think I'm glad I went with a more simple and recognizable design. I definitely have quite the theme going for me, especially with colors choices and the "nature" of my subjects (no pun intended). I'm just glad I incorporated sgrafitto into my plate, as much as glaze can be beautiful and the textures that come out from it can be amazing to look at, the sgrafitto added that true subject to look at on the surface. Though, I am quite proud of how the glaze came out, especially on the underside. The subtle yet gorgeous glaze combo on the underside compliments the top surface quite well! Overall, I'm quite proud of how the design came out, as I was a little afraid that the lines would come out shaky or messy. In the end, if I could change anything, I would honestly just make the plate bigger and add more sgrafitto design to the empty space.
